Full Ahead podcast launches

A few weeks ago I mentioned a passion project which was about to begin.

Over the last few months I have been working with Alistair Eagles who for many years was managing director of a shipping company linking the UK with Ireland.

Recording aboard the Manxman, with the IoMSPC’s James Taylor.

With his interest in journalism and my interest in ships we came up with a podcast idea to shine a light on an industry which rarely gets any coverage.

Full Ahead (available on Apple and Spotify)launched earlier this month and interest has been significant. Within a matter of days the first episode had recorded interest from 16 countries and a follow up ‘special’ about innovation on Merseyside within the maritime industry there proved popular too.

We’re about to launch our third episode to coincide with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s busiest period and doubtless this will take off with listeners interested as much in the TT as the ferries that carry over 40,000 to the island.

At the moment it is purely for fun - a sponsor would be nice - and with several more episodes in the pipeline it will be good to see if it makes waves in the podcast world.

A warm reception on Merseyside from Mersey Maritime’s chief executive Ruth Wood.
