The best stories often mean going a little further—sometimes literally.

For this feature, I crossed to Piel Island, a tiny 50-acre island off the Furness Peninsula that's home to its own castle, a centuries-old pub, and even a 'King'. 👑

I joined the Morecambe Bay Partnership on their charity walk to experience the island first-hand because, as a freelance journalist, I believe the best reporting comes from being there ie meeting people, asking questions and uncovering the stories that don't always make the headlines.

From local history and heritage to the people who keep these traditions alive, it's these human stories that make Morecambe Bay such a fascinating place to document.
